Job Title: Regulatory Specialist Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Specialist to join our global team in Chicago, IL. This role involves working with various international food regulations and standards, providing guidance on ingredient statements, nutrition fact panels, and compliance with FDA regulations.Responsibilities
  • Create ingredient statements and nutrition fact panels.
  • Review and approve raw material and formula compliance through FDA regulations and standards within PLM.
  • Independently create and validate technical lab copy by applying global regulations and standards of nutrition and food science.
  • Provide ingredient, formula, claim, labeling, and regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams on commercialization projects.
  • Offer proactive and risk-based regulatory recommendations on ingredient, formula, claim, and labeling to stakeholders.
  • Review, register, and certify raw materials and finished goods with third-party certification bodies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory standards in label content.
  • Work within SAP PLM to review and approve ingredients, formulas, and graphics.
  • Research and stay informed of upcoming regulatory changes and assess risks in commercialization projects.
  • Partner with external regulatory experts to build internal expertise.
  • Develop SOPs and related trainings.
  • Co-lead third-party certification audits.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a food regulatory position, following US and global regulations.
  • Proficiency in CFR21, FDA, SAP, and food regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with EU, Asia, or South American food regulations.
  • Ability to write ingredient statements and nutrition fact panels.
  • Experience reviewing ingredients, formulas, and graphics.
  • Familiarity with PLM or SAP systems, Dragonfly, and food label review software.

Work EnvironmentThis contract role is slated to continue until Q1 of 2027, with a hybrid work setup of two days on-site at the Old Chicago Post Office location and three days remote. Candidates can be non-local if they are the right fit, but preference is given to Chicago-based candidates. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8-4, with flexibility from 7-3 or 9-5.
