The Hurdle lab conducts research in antibiotic resistance mechanisms from patient samples, collaborative discovery of anti-infective therapeutics, and bacterial pathogenesis. This position provides broad training to develop independent, highly motivated scientists in an outstanding collaborative environment that integrates basic and translational sciences. The successful candidate will conduct research focused on mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases. This position offers an excellent opportunity to engage in innovative research, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and develop a comprehensive understanding of gastrointestinal microbiology, pathogenesis, and drug discovery. Expertise in molecular genetics, protein biochemistry and animal models is highly preferred.The ideal candidate will conduct high-quality research using advanced techniques in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, multi-omics, and animal models of disease. The candidate will design and perform experiments, analyze data, and interpret results. Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Present research findings at national and international conferences. Collaborate with other researchers and faculty members on interdisciplinary projects. Uses computers and laboratory equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, technical evaluation and presentation of research experiments and results.Evaluates and summarizes results for inclusion in scientific publications and presentations.CollaborationsConducts literature searches and reviews, attends seminars, lab meetings and journal clubs.
