- Shows an overall understanding of Emergency Room patient care practices
- Possesses or is willing to acquire the special knowledge and skills required to implement safe, immediate and effective care to each Emergency Room patient
- Functions well in stressful and true emergency situations
- Demonstrates understanding and tact in dealing with patients and visitors
- Cooperates with law enforcement agencies, coroners, physicians, and all other hospital staff
- Identifies and assesses problems and situations accurately while exercising good judgment.
- Establishes effective working relationships with physicians and other professional staff
- Has the ability to care for patients of all populations
- Successful completion of Paramedic State Board Exam
- Paramedic Certification
- CPR
- ACLS/PALS prior to completion of orientation
- Requires adapting quickly and efficiently to stressful situations
- Requires control of the entire Emergency Room setting during stressful encounters
- Consistently complies with established Behavioral Expectations
- Exhibits competency in paramedic skills
- Practices critical thinking

- Understands medication calculations and medication compounding/dispensing
- Possesses knowledge of critical drips
- Practices appropriate use of pyxis
- Complies with scanning of medications
- Accurately educates patients on medications
- Practices organization skills
- Participates in inventory/stock control
- Involved in Performance Improvement Projects
- Completes department-specific education and annual skills day
- Participates in general cleaning and appropriate refrigerator use
- Accurately completes patient reporting and hand off
- Completes delegation of tasks
- Adheres to laws and regulations
- Understands and practices downtime procedures
- Ensures appropriate documentation for medication passes and waste
- Performs hourly rounding and completes documentation
- Completes vital sign documentation
- Reconciles medication lists
- Completes hand offs and reports (telephone and bedside)

- Performs daily checks (temperature checks, crash carts, etc.)
