- Evaluate and apply theoretically rigorous results to the development and evaluation of algorithms supporting engineering, signal processing, and machine learning applications based statistical methods.
- Contribute technical expertise to symposia, journal articles, and technical reports.
- Prepare and deliver reports or presentations of research projects/analysis results to project sponsors as appropriate.
- Contribute to the generation of proposals and external funding.
- Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

- Ph.D. degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a similar field, and 2 years of related research experience post-degree.
MS degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a similar related field, and 5 years related research experience post degree.Required Experience (minimum requirements)
- Strong analytical skills and use of mathematical software
- Strong programming skills with experience in one or more of the following programming languages/software: Matlab, Python, Mathematica or equivalent.
- Fundamental understanding of relevant mathematical concepts, such as Fourier analysis, point estimation, hypothesis testing, and high-dimensional optimization.
- Knowledge of techniques for bounding estimation certainty/ classification accuracy and learning/communication rates using information-theoretic bounds.
- Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of remote imaging technologies: EO/IR image formation, RF remote sensing, SAR imaging, etc.
- Interest in the theoretical underpinnings of learning algorithms\
- Rigorous graduate-level coursework in PDEs, complex analysis, functional analysis, differential geometry, or probability\Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to perform research, solve technical problems, and/or develop software tools.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires United States citizenship. Obtaining a national security clearance while holding a dual citizenship will not be possible when the foreign country poses a risk to the national security of the United States.
- Excellent written/oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction but work without continuous oversight.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant matters related to job duties.
- Ability to work in a collaborative research environment, including reading and disseminating advances in research literature and brainstorming innovative approaches to technical challenges.
