DescriptionDSHS Fircrest - Developmental Disability Administrator
is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as a Developmental Disability Administrator (DDA). In this vital leadership role, you will oversee Active Treatment programs within the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), ensuring high-quality habilitation services that support the unique needs of our clients. You will guide and supervise Habilitation Program Administrators (HPAs) and interdisciplinary specialists, fostering collaboration to deliver individualized care and promote client growth and well-being. This position plays a key part in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations while advancing Fircrest's mission of providing compassionate, person-centered services.About Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center
, located in Shoreline just north of Seattle, provides residential support to approximately 200 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in 1959, Fircrest has evolved from a medical model to a person-centered approach that focuses on promoting independence and community integration. The center offers specialized nursing care and habilitative services funded in part by programs regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Fircrest's location provides residents access to major medical and educational facilities, as well as opportunities to engage in a variety of cultural, sporting, and outdoor activities in the Seattle area.Some of what you'll do:
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, Fircrest policies, and interdisciplinary treatment plans
  • Oversee and evaluate Active Treatment and short-term stay programs for ICF clients
  • Supervise, hire, and support HPAs, recreation staff, and other ICF specialists
  • Coordinate admissions and collaborate with field services, community vendors, and the Shoreline School District
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans following audits and investigations
  • Prepare reports, respond to inquiries, and monitor incident reports under the direction of the ICF Director
  • Represent the ICF in treatment planning with outside providers and participate in facility-wide planning and management projects
What we're looking for:
  • Ability to supervise, coach, train, schedule, and evaluate staff while fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Knowledge of programs and treatment needs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to assess client status, develop individualized care plans, and provide consultation and technical assistance to ensure service delivery
  • Capacity to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to support client safety and facility operations
  • Skill in analyzing complex information, identifying trends, and developing tracking systems to measure and improve quality of care
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing professional reports and correspondence and engaging effectively with clients, staff, and external partners
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Who should apply?
We are looking for professionals who have:
  • A bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, special education, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field*
AND
  • Four years of professional experience in human services, including:
  • (A) At least two years working with individuals with developmental disabilities or other handicapping conditions
  • (B) At least one year in a supervisory, administrative, or professional program service delivery role
Graduate-level training may be substituted, year for year, for the required experience, except for the specific requirements listed in (A) and (B) above.*A qualified field may include experience in teaching, social work, working with children or youth, supporting the elderly, or serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Additional information:
  • Work schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
  • King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
