  • Works under the direction of an activity manager, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, and policies, and relies on the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish an adequate quality of work.
  • Serves as a working supervisor over the kitchen work area exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by supervisors.
  • Participates with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs and estimates.
  • Assigns tasks to subordinates. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures, instruct subordinates in new procedures. Investigates and determines causes for work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity.
RequirementsConditions of employment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 and many include a medical examination.
  • Incumbent is required to complete a Childcare Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • The ability to obtain (within first six months of employment) and maintain a Food Protection Manager Certification acquired through an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited agency is required
  • (i.e., ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Program)
QualificationsQualifications of Employment * Experience and training that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
  • Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise.
Highly Preferred Criteria
  • Experience working in a large-scale kitchen environment with the ability to follow and execute recipes accurately.
  • Ability to develop and manage work schedules and assign tasks.
  • Possess a valid ServSafe certification.
