The Custodial Supervisor supports the daily operations of custodial services district-wide. This position assists with staff supervision, development of cleaning standards, and oversight of custodial operations to maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and functionality. The role supports preventive maintenance, special events, and contracted cleaning services and requires travel across district sites and availability outside of standard work hours.Job Duties / ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing and implementing custodial procedures, safety protocols, and cleaning standards.Supervise custodial operations across multiple shifts and locations, ensuring proper coverage and performance.Conduct regular facility inspections; assign and follow up on corrective actions to maintain building and grounds appearance.Respond to inquiries, requests, and service issues in a timely and professional manner.Collaborate with school principals, head custodians, and department leadership to align cleaning schedules and staffing needs.Monitor custodial staff schedules and timekeeping, including overtime and leave requests, to ensure adequate coverage and adherence to budget constraints.Participate in hiring, assignment, and transfer of custodial personnel in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.Conduct timely performance evaluations and provide feedback in compliance with district practices.Support and coordinate custodial services for school events, ensuring pre- and post-event coverage.Assist with budget oversight and track custodial expenditures for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Research and recommend new custodial equipment, supplies, and techniques to enhance efficiency and safety.Enforce district work rules, conduct standards, and safety expectations.Provide support for staff training and professional development; ensure staff are trained in procedures, equipment, and materials.Communicate effectively with custodial teams, administration, and other departments to coordinate services.Respond to after-hours and emergency calls and take appropriate action.Attend off-site meetings, trainings and other professional development opportunities as needed.Other duties as assigned.EducationAssociate’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.Valid Illinois driver’s license required.Experience / KnowledgeMinimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in custodial or facilities operations across multiple sites.Experience with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and personnel management.Working knowledge of school operations, including custodial and security considerations.Proficiency in relevant computer applications.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Physical DemandsFrequent work in active, fast-paced environments with interruptions.Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using proper technique; operate lifts and other custodial equipment.Terms of Employment
  • This is a 12-month position. Salary and benefits are as established by the Board of Education. Position may require schedule flexibility, including evening and weekend availability.
  • The salary range for this position is $60,243.00 - $90,353.00. Our typical practice is to hire between the minimum and the midpoint ($75,298.00).
