
Material Handler

- Make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order which is conveyed to the Shipping Coordinator by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
- Perform daily receiving operations by receiving material into stock and updating applicable computer tracking programs.
- Keep an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Make pick-ups and deliveries to our suppliers for parts and raw materials using a company vehicle.
- Fill out bills of lading and various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
- Estimate weights and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming/outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices or other records
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages
- Creates the receiving record, attaches record to proper container and places container on the correct shelf in receiving inspection or stock receiving shelf
- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
- Prepares shipping labels and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
- Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers
- Inserts items into containers
- Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet packaging specifications.
- Prepares packing slips and lists serial numbers or other identifying information of items sold.
- Examines and prepares documents for international shipments
- High School diploma preferred.
- Familiarity with ITAR regulations and the requirements for shipping to non-U.S. destinations preferred.
- Familiarity with proper packaging methods and ability to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements required.
- Experience with the most common material handling equipment required
- Forklift truck operator license required.
- Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
