- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, building strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Partner with senior leadership, including General Managers, Regional Managing Directors, and VPs to understand team dynamics and provide customized support.
- Ability to build a valuable relationship with business leader and their leadership team to drive HR solutions within the business unit and acts as a single point of contact for HR needs and guidance.
- Ability to act as the performance improvement driver and is a champion for positive changes/solutions in the people management.
- Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures to ensure consistent and fair employment practices.
- Support compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, including California-specific legislation.
- Provide clear guidance to managers on disciplinary actions, documentation, and performance management processes.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Provide coaching and support to managers and employees regarding conflict resolution, performance issues, and conduct matters.
- Proactively address concerns and promote a positive work environment with awareness of a unionized workforce and ability to interpret Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
- Design and deliver training programs for management and employees on topics such as performance management, compliance, anti-harassment and other HR policies.
- Ability to answer and provide training for HR-related inquiries relating to policies and procedures, vacation entitlement/balances and benefits, WSIB/CNESST, short- and long-term disability claims, LOA and processing corrective action requests.
- Provide training and guidance to management on working effectively in unionized environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 3-5 years of related experience with demonstrated knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, talent acquisition, organizational development, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment law.
- Experience working as a human resources advisor to senior leadership.
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
- Possess the legal right to work in the United States.
- Must reside in California or be willing to relocate to California.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Experience with Employment and Labor in California.
- Ability to speak/read Spanish.
- Prior participation in grievance and arbitration processes.
- Awareness of CBAs and management of unionized workforces.
