Posting TextThe Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of South Dakota is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our research team as a postdoctoral researcher in biomechanical engineering. The department is investing significantly in cutting-edge biomechanics advancements and establishing an innovative new program. By incorporating the latest technologies and research methodologies, we aim to revolutionize biomechanics and profoundly impact human health, sports performance, and industrial processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects on movement biomechanics, 3D printing, mixed reality, and mechanical testing and drive the future of this program through the development of new projects and opportunities within the Department of Biomedical Engineering and in collaboration with other key programs at USD including the Sanford School of Medicine. The successful candidate will also play a key role in mentoring students, supporting educational outreach efforts, developing funding proposals, and submitting publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals.Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research projects.
- Analyze and interpret data.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers.
- Disseminate research through conference presentations and peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to funding proposals.
- Mentor and support undergraduate, graduate, and medical students involved in research activities.
- Support educational outreach efforts aimed at promoting biomedical engineering and its applications.
- Ph.D. in biomechanics, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in scientific research, such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
- Experience with machine learning techniques, CAD, computational modeling, 3D printing, motion capture, and/or material testing.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in scientific research, such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
- Excellent communication, writing, analytical, and statistical skills.
- Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
