
Vehicle Maintenance Foreman

- Regularly communicate with management regarding the status of vehicles, containers, and/or other equipment.
- Ensure repairs to vehicles are completed per company maintenance schedules.
- Ensure proper diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues is completed and proper repairs are made.
- Ensure all repairs to vehicles, equipment, and related components are completed in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs are followed to company standard.
- Inspect, repair, and/or overhaul vehicle support systems, such as electrical, air, hydraulic and brake systems.
- Perform roadside repairs and adjustments.
- Ensure all safety devices on vehicles are in good working order.
- Responsible for instructing personnel on proper maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
- Assess that technicians have proper skill sets per job descriptions.
- Perform required administrative duties when necessary, such as cycle counts, parts requisitions, warranties, etc.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties related to tools, materials, shop, and work areas.
- Professionally interact with internal and external customers.
- May assist in other areas of the vehicle maintenance shop as needed.
- Maintain accurate records (time, maintenance orders, and parts usage) in SAP.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- May be required to travel within the district for training purposes or business needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to obtain CDL B, preferred.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude for vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Ability to safely drive service vehicles and vehicles in and out of the service area, as well as a test drive.
- Must possess the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with using a computer and diagnostic software.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.
- Professionally interact with internal and external customers.
- Minimum 3 years performing repair and maintenance on heavy trucks and diesel engine vehicles, equipment, and related components preferred.
- Experience using repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams, and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair vehicle or component failure
- Waste industry experience preferred.
- Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 35lbs. Occasionally up to 75lbs.
- Continuously working outside in changing temperature, wet/humid conditions.
- Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, other airborne matter.
- Continuously walking/standing/stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling/climbing and/or balancing.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Ability to work flexible hours: expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.
