The School Psychology Intern works under the direction of a Certified School Psychologist to become familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the School Psychologist.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.Assists with problem solving process and evaluation of students for special education eligibilityAssists with IEP meetings.Utilizes effectively the IEP system.Builds rapport with students and develops RtI groups to assist them with identified skills.Attends District School Psychologist meetings and training.Learn about best practices in assessment and eligibility considerations and how to apply those to a variety of case studies in the school setting.Learns to complete initial and reevaluation paperwork.Work in a collaborative environment with other members of the IEP team to identify areas of need and support team members with recommendations of potential areas to target with goals/objectives and accommodations.Gains and understanding of school psychology from pre-k through high school.Assists School Psychologists and other building staff in dealing with behaviors and crisis situations, including data collection and analysis.Advocates for students’ education, safety and well being.Meets with Field Supervisor and supervising certified School Psychologist, as required.Assists in communicating with parents/guardians as requested.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEnrollment in a graduate program in the area of Psychology with a certification in School PsychologyEligible for Field placement as determined by the sending University.Eligible to receive a Professional Educator License in School Psychology at the completion of the Internship.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Requires coursework in education as determined by a School Psychology program from an accredited university.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.WORK ENVIRONMENT
