
Cardiovascular Technologist - Cath Lab

- Assists physician in performing invasive procedures. May perform related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging techniques to demonstrate catheter location, position, and document findings.
- Scrubs in for handling guide wires, catheter, administering contrast injections, flushing catheters, and other scrub duties as assigned per specialty.
- Performs pre-procedural patient care activities.
- Monitors and records patient’s condition and procedures’ progress. Retrieves and reviews patient data.
- Prepares and maintains sterile field.
- Operates and maintains clinical equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accredited Secondary Education Program Required: Radiologic Technology PHSW Cath Lab only. Or a combination of education and experience that provides the incumbent with the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job and obtain required certification, licensure, and registration or
- Minimum of 2 years required: Clinical experience in Cardiac Cath Lab required or equivalent or
- Required: Previous experience working in a hospital setting
- Required: Certification/Registration/Licensure as required by the WA State for a Radiologic Technologist. and
- Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support and
- Required: within 6 months Advanced Cardiac Life Support and
- May be required: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification and
- Preferred: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required)
- Proficient computer and keyboarding skills required (Required)
- Complete understanding of vascular and related organ anatomy (Required)
- Ability to interact within a variable environment good team dynamics (Required)
- Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills (Required)
- Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility (Required)
- ARRT required.
- NIHSS course and certification completed within six months of hire for Cath Lab RT(R) only.
- Per Diem staff are required to have 2 years of Invasive Catheterization Lab experience. Per Diem staff minimum shift requirement: 4 shifts per month (may be a combination of regular shifts or on-call shifts).
- On-call required.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
- Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
