- Reviews application for accommodations and performs individual intakes;
- Assesses medical documentation and interprets diagnostic test results to determine suitability for disability accommodations;
- Determines if a more complete learning disability evaluation and/or additional testing is warranted;
- Develops an individualized plan for the provision of reasonable accommodations to facilitate equitable educational opportunities;
- Arranges and coordinates all accommodations/services for clients;
- Coordinates scheduling, logistics, and contracts with service providers;
- Maintains and monitors budget for effective use of resources;
- Maintains the Accessibility Resource Center web content and communications;
- Participates in staff and committee meetings;
- Provides advice to clients and the Office of Advisement regarding the appropriateness of individual client course selection;
- Assesses the interaction of the student's disability, and his/her accommodations with the academic environment to modify accommodations as needed;
- Advises and guides students and faculty in identifying learning strategies best suited to the client’s unique combination of strengths and challenges within the context of a particular class;
- Provides professional direction to faculty on best practices for students' learning opportunities and necessary accommodations;
- Provides oversight for the budget including allocation of funds for service providers and other costs directly related to to serving clients;
- Provides information to faculty regarding the effective use of disability software and tools;
- Mediates any disagreement between the client and instructor;
- Maintains and reports ARC data collection to assess outcomes and effectiveness in student retention, persistence, and completion;
- Participates in the New Mexico Association on Higher Education and Disability program (NM-AHEAD);
- Works closely with the Department of Vocational Resources (DVR) to support clients where and when appropriate;
- Participates in the Care Team and other committees as needed;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Science, Human Service, Counseling, Rehabilitation, or related field;
- One year of experience providing or supporting disability services, preferably in a higher education environment;
- Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and The Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Master's degree; strong preference for degrees in Rehabilitation Services;
- Thorough knowledge of the ADA, The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state guidelines relating to disability, accommodations, and access issues for Higher Ed Institutions;
- Demonstrated experience supporting issues affecting a diverse student population in higher education;
- Knowledge and experience with Banner, Workday, Blackboard, assistive technology, or related systems;
- Ability to learn new technology, software, and programs quickly.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to build and sustain key relationships with governing agencies, students with disabilities, and all members of the college community;
- Tact, diplomacy, and advocacy to achieve program and campus goals;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills especially in a diverse environment;
- Skills to analyze, interpret, and incorporate into daily work, the intent of the laws, policies, and practices regarding students with disabilities;
- Develop or have current knowledge of applicable disability case law, court rulings, and current practices, along with trends/developments in the field of disabled student services in postsecondary education;
- Demonstrated experience in autonomous work (with minimum oversight), accountability, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict management skills;
- Excellent computer skills include being able to work with all Microsoft Office products, Internet resources including social media and adaptive computing;
- Develop or have current knowledge and understanding of universal design concepts especially those related to academics, technology, event planning, and physical access;
- Understanding the roles of FERPA and HIPAA related to disability services;
- Ability to work some evening and weekend events if necessary.
