The Job Placement Specialist will support managing a new program within C-Work which focuses on helping people start careers in Early Childhood Education. Through this program, participants will enroll in Early Childhood courses at City College, complete paid internships at local childcare centers/preschools, and ultimately find great jobs in the field. The Job Placement Specialist will support participants through their enrollment, education and training process. This position will also support program participants interested in training and job opportunities outside of early childhood education.Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Support participants throughout their time in the program. Help enroll into the program and into classes, internship placement, and troubleshoot any issues that arise including barrier removal.
  • Support case management through regular check-ins, goal-setting, and connecting program participants with additional resources and support services as needed.
  • Identify employment opportunities/training programs for participants based on their skills, interests, and career goals.
  • Maintain connections with employers/training providers and provide ongoing support participants throughout the application and placement process.
  • Maintain up-to-date participant information and enter data into Salesforce database.
The Job Placement Specialist should have these skills:
  • Bilingual Spanish AND English required
  • Professional experience in Workforce Development and/or Early Childhood Education strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable supporting a new developing program.
  • Deep understanding of issues facing families experiencing homelessness and at-risk, and trauma-informed care.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, including Word/Excel/Outlook; Salesforce a plus.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary range: $25-30 per hour (approx. $50-59k annually).
  • Paid time off: 19 days of vacation your first year, 24 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, time off for education, and family leave.
  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children.
  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account.
Location and COVID safety:
  • Work location: 37 Grove St. (less than a block from Civic Center BART/MUNI)
  • Work days will be in the office or community.
  • COVID vaccination required for all staff.
