- Plan, conceptualize, and create innovative gas system designs for new products or updates to existing products with a focus on quality, cost, manufacturability, product performance and agency compliance.
- Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new gas system designs or updates to existing products. Clearly document results and recommendations for product & process improvement.
- Coordinate pilot builds for testing and customer field trials throughout the NPD process.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work, including the use of Virtual Analysis (FEA, CFD, etc.)
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications and make recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and cross functional teams to execute project deliverables, and work with suppliers and contractors.
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
- Ensure adherence to the New Product Development process, project timelines are met, projects stay within budget and on target for product performance and cost.
- Possess awareness of intellectual property requirements related to both infringement and protection of intellectual property.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
- 5 years of experience working in commercial gas systems engineering
- Proficient in gas systems designs and calculations (involving systems with water, steam, grease). Power burner and draft induced systems (positive and negative pressures).
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles and statistics to solve problems.
- Proficient in using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of Agency and Certification Standards, such as UL, Energy Star, ASTM, etc.
- Commercial awareness, including understanding of target users and market requirements.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both verbal and written formats.
