Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce embedded security policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to communication devices.
- Perform threat modeling, risk assessment, and vulnerability analysis on embedded platforms and firmware.
- Design and implement security features such as secure boot, encryption, trusted execution environments, and secure firmware updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into hardware and software development lifecycles.
- Monitor and analyze security incidents related to embedded systems and respond with appropriate defensive measures.
- Conduct penetration testing and code reviews on embedded firmware and communication protocols to identify weaknesses.
- Keep up-to-date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies relevant to embedded systems in communication networks.
- Create documentation, training materials, and security awareness programs for internal teams.
- Support compliance efforts with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO, ETSI).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in security engineering, preferably within the communication industry.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, microcontrollers, and communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, LTE, 5G).
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as hardware root of trust, secure boot, cryptographic algorithms, and secure key management.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly for embedded development.
- Familiarity with common security testing tools and techniques, including fuzz testing and static/dynamic analysis.
- Knowledge of threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, DREAD).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively across teams and explain technical security issues clearly.
- Experience with IoT security or telecom infrastructure security.
- Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
- Understanding of hardware security modules (HSM), Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), and side-channel attack mitigations.
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP are a plus.
