- Utilize resource assessment modeling software and R/Python scripts to yield project energy production and facilitate data archiving and organization.
- Work closely with Met Systems team to understand meteorological data and service documentation from a fleet of wind and solar development stations, remote sensors (Sodar/Lidar) and operational permanent met stations.
- Assist prospecting efforts by conducting preliminary screens of potential wind and solar assets as identified by the New Projects Team and quantify production based on data at hand.
- Perform sound and shadow flicker analysis using industry standard software.
- Help with new tool creation and support Scouts analysis and software needs related to archiving on-site observations and reanalysis datasets.
- Interest in Meteorology, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or other technical field as demonstrated by choice of college major.
- Demonstrated programming/data-analysis ability using Python, R, Julia, Matlab or Other from coursework etc.
- Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Meteorology, Physics or Engineering with an academic focus on wind or solar resource.
- Data visualization skills using : Google Earth, OSM, Paraview or other
- Academic coursework or research related to :
- Surface/ boundary layer meteorology, observational and/or modeling
- Applications of scanning and profiling Lidar and Sodar, particularly applications related to wind energy
- Synoptic/Meso and Micro-scale modeling
- The WRF Fitch windfarm parameterization
- Application of meteorological reanalysis datasets and/or downscaling
- Climatic analysis related to different RCP scenarios and their impact on human systems
- Application of novel algorithms to real world problems, particularly in energy
- Applications of wavelet, machine-learning and/or neural-networks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
