New London Local Schools is currently accepting applications for the posiiton of teacher's aide. Multiple positions currently available. Initial placement may include intense needs preschool, general preschool, and general student support.Qualifications:Ohio Educational Aide as defined in Section 3319.088 of the revised codeAbility to assist and/or supervise studentsMeets all mandated health requirementsDocumentation of a clear criminal recordExperience working with children, especially those with a disability, preferably in a school setting.Associates degree or equivalent in early childhood education or related field (per requirements of ESEA) or meet Paraprofessional requirements through the State Assessment (per NLCB of 2002)Responsibilities & Specific Duties:With collaboration of instructor(s), monitor and/or implement instructional activities in groups or 1:1 situations using appropriate motivational and reinforcement techniques.Aid students with tasks given to them, reading to students and/or conduct activities to assist with remediation.Assist students with moving about the classroom and buildingAssist with first aid service for studentsAssist teacher with checking of individual skills of studentsAssist with the implementation of student IEPs, including related services as requiredKnowledge of and ability with training to use appropriate techniques involving physical crisis interventionMakes recommendations for instructional program improvementsAssists students with organizational and study skillsReinforces goals and objectives of the students’ IEPUse appropriate behavior management, motivational, and reinforcement techniques with students that are consistent with the classroom’s behavior management & expectationsSupports in the collection of data, maintenance of charts, and assists with informal assessments and write anecdotal records as requested by the instructorMay participate in or attend appropriate team meetings as necessaryProvide ongoing feedback regarding changes in students performanceAssist in care and organization of instructional materials and equipmentParticipate in student arrival and dismissal procedures including bus loading/unloading as necessary.Reports any known and/or suspected abuse under ORC 2151.421Supervises and/or assists with the supervision of students (for example: emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, bus dismissal, cafeteria duty, study hall, restrooms, parking lot duty)Promote good social relationships between studentsResponds to students in a hind, fair, and interested mannerExplains school rules to studentsAids students with getting in and out of wearing apparel and footwearAbility to work remotely with students under the teacher’s direction (Zoom/Google Meets, Google Docs, virtual platforms, etc).Perform other job-related duties as assigned within the general scope of the job ability to travel to/from room to room to interact with staff, as well as remain in a fixed location for a period of time.Sufficient ability to hear the conversational voices with or without the aid of a hearing deviceSufficient ability to see with or without corrective lensesSufficient ability to speak and be understood in normal circumstancesSufficient use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job.Suited for situations that require the ability to plan ahead, yet remain flexible enough to adapt to new situations or react to emergenciesSuited for situations that require the ability to interact to and interact well with other people, but also the ability to work alonePhysical ability to perform student transfer techniques and operate student equipment for PreK through high school age students.May be required to handle bodily fluids containing blood and may be exposed to blood borne pathogens (exercises proper precautions and safety strategies).May be have potential exposure to unruly students and/or adultsPossible need to lift items weighing 30 lbs. or less (books, classroom items)Additional Responsibilities for care routines for students, as needed.Simple checking of homework and tests using teacher-made keyAssist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the students, their needs, interests, or by the teacherMaintain discipline and where appropriate, make discipline referrals to the administrationAdminister first aid and or medication in accordance with established procedures and policies
