
Payroll Specialist

- Ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of time and pay for multi-state payroll which includes 500+ employees in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical deadlines
- Responsible for data completeness in the timekeeping system and for data being properly interfaced into the payroll system
- Compile, balance, and ensure compliance requirements are met for additional earnings submissions, time corrections, and rate overrides submitted from multiple locations and validate results in the payroll system
- Review payroll reports to confirm data is balanced with timekeeping and department/base submission reports to ensure accuracy and identify any out-of- balance conditions needing correction
- Process unemployment claims through a third party vendor
- Provide support for external and internal audits related to pay items
- Support payroll projects, process improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned
- Understand and apply company policy, corporate agreements, and state/government regulations effecting payroll procedures
- Associates degree along with previous experience in a similar role preferred, or 3+ years of relevant experience required
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft MS environment including Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
- Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail
- Previous experience with large payroll system; UKG, KRONOS and SAP a plus
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workload pressure of strict deadlines
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitive information.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced team environment
