- Develop, implement, and maintain ESH policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk/hazard assessments to proactively identify safety and environmental risks.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, hazardous waste, stormwater, and spill prevention and control plans.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Deliver training and provide technical guidance to employees and contractors on safety procedures, PPE usage, emergency response, and environmental responsibilities.
- Support sustainability initiatives and drive continuous improvement in ESH performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure safe design, operation, and maintenance of facilities, systems, and equipment.
- TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical field. Experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety, or 2+ years with a Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards, industrial safety regulations, and risk management practices.
- Experience with hazard analysis, accident investigations, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver Health & Safety (H&S) training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience developing technical solutions in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex safety concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently on complex projects with significant impact on operational results.
- Advanced degree (MS or higher) in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification(s), such as:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Safety or Environmental disciplines
- Experience designing safety devices, protective equipment, or engineering controls to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Strong familiarity with ergonomics, human factors, and applied physiology in occupational settings.
- Prior experience performing safety audits and writing safety standards or procedures.
- Expertise in specialized areas such as:
- Radiation protection
- Toxicology
- Stormwater, hazardous waste, or air emission compliance
- Knowledge of sustainability programs and continuous ESH improvement initiatives.
