Job Title: Lead Engineer - Gas Engineering
Reports to Supervisor – Gas Design
Reports hybrid to Rochester, NY (Scottsville Rd)
The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $101,404‬- $126,860‬Engineers and designs new and upgraded gas distribution and transmission system infrastructure improvements and replacements to serve new and existing load and customers. Applies company, industry, local, state, national codes, tariffs, and standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Interacts with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies, and othersMajor Roles and Responsibilities (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):With little supervision, engineers and designs new and upgraded gas distribution and transmission system infrastructure improvements and replacements to serve new and existing load and customers. Supports Gas Planning and Mapping via the supply of data used to update gas system maps, regulator station data, and critical valve records. Identifies infrastructure projects in support of capital budgeting. Prepares construction design packages and works with Gas Operations to assign construction resources to projects. Supports Gas Field Operations and other departments. Applies company, industry, local, state, national codes, tariffs, and standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Provides engineering expertise for the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the distribution and transmission systems. Interacts with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies, and others. Manages technical support contractors and consultants. Has basic knowledge of civil construction drawings including structural components, elevation, grade cuts to perform new business or replacement/relocation work basic knowledge of Regulatory Codes required. Evaluates and approves moderately complex program/project specifications for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes and design needs; performs inspections/audits to ensure that proper procedures are followed. Ensures sufficient coverage/resources for proposed program/project.Job Requirements:
  • Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization
  • Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")
  • Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 10 years of technical experience in gas engineering and/or related field
