Job Description:Our OSP Designer III shall design and manage the design data of telecommunications infrastructure and fiber optic networks and will work with project managers and other team members to plan and execute network design projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure; deep understanding of communications engineering and related systems; ability to use a computer and other office related equipment; familiarity with telecommunications design software; ability to read, understand, interpret, and analyze data.What you’ll do as an OSP Designer III:
  • Participate on project teams and ensure compliance with predetermined project deliverables
  • Identify and course correct project issues and risks, participate in response plans to resolve issues
  • Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software
  • Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks
  • Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies
  • Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, ie: bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.
  • Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with the requirements of local, state and federal regulations, which may include Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
  • Provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities
  • Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least four years of telecommunications OSP Design/Engineering Experience is required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred
  • Expertise in a drafting software such as AutoCAD is required
Knowledge of:
  • Telecommunications industry standards
  • Regulations for OSP facilities
  • Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  • Fiber to the Home and Fiber to the Building
  • Government permit requirements
  • OSP Communications Design systems
  • Applications such as NDS, FROGS, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset
  • Fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment
Physical abilities & exposures:
  • Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
