(Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.)Job PurposeABSL is seeking an experienced full-time Senior Quality Engineer I responsible for program-specific quality assurance requirements for assigned programs and/or ownership of key overhead QMS process. Program responsibilities include working with program teams to coordinate root cause corrective action activities, coordinating customer mandated inspections, QMS and contract compliance, and preparing/submitting customer required QA document packages. QMS responsibilities include leading, developing, maintaining, and improving key overhead QMS requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support QMS implementation within assigned programs and across the organization including reporting of KPI’s.
- Act as the quality liaison for internal program teams and customer representatives, including support for inspections, quality issues, and audits.
- Review and approve engineering documentation for compliance with standards (e.g., drawings, schematics, travelers).
- Lead MRB (Material Review Board) activities and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Own, maintain, and improve overhead QMS processes including CARs, calibration, supplier approvals, FOD/contamination control, and ESD compliance.
- Develop and maintain key process metrics; drive continuous improvement using Lean principles.
- Provide training for new quality staff and contribute to process CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) activities.
- Coordinate, lead, and/or support internal, customer, registrar, and supplier audits.
- Backup for quality inspection support in manufacturing and testing.
- Lead, coordinate, and support continuous improvement activities to improve processes.
- Training of new personnel to key processes.
- Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
- Minimum required experience in quality assurance of manufacturing and testing of high reliability products (space or medical experience strongly advantageous) based on education level:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably engineering) – Minimum of 6 - 8 years’ experience
- Master’s degree (preferably engineering) – 2 years or less
- Certifications in or ability to obtain/maintain:
- NASA 8739.1
- IPC-620 w/ Space Addendum
- IPC J-STD-001 w/ Space Addendum
- AS9100 Lead Auditor
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proficiency with quality and technical standards such as ISO, ASME, MIL, and NAS.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and conflict management skills.
- Attention to detail and team-oriented mindset.
