Role SummaryAs a Sr Test and Validation Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the charging and energy test team in Torrance, CA planning and executing the testing of current and next generation charging systems. In this role you will interface closely with test/validation/design engineers to design and execute test plans and schedules. You will communicate and work closely with multiple teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
- In this position you will develop and maintain the end-to-end validation plan of Rivian’s Charging & Energy products
- Work closely with the software and hardware engineering teams to understand test requirements
- Develop test procedures to define instructions on test setup and execution
- Design and modify test fixtures and instrumentation for charging equipment testing
- Provide direction to lab personnel (both internal and external) in setting up and executing system tests
- Work with multiple external lab partners to setup, execute, and monitor testing
- Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs and Hazard Analyses
- Support hands on technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing
- Log and manage software and hardware issues to resolution
- Lead tear down analysis and post processing of hardware at end of test
- Work with appropriate teams to convey learnings to feed back into requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience leading validation efforts in automotive or high-power product field
- Experience in test planning and execution from program inception to final validation signoff
- Skilled in hands-on hardware and software testing at a system level
- Prior experience in test plan development, equipment selection and test execution
- Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, Linux, LabView
- Hands on approach to testing, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Experience working with medium and high voltage systems up to 1000VDC
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Exposure to industry standards such as MIL-STD-50G, UL 2202, UL 50E
- Exposure to ISO 17025, ILAC, or A2LA Laboratory accreditation standards and practices a plus
- Familiarity with test automation is a plus
- 10-20% domestic and/or international travel
