This individual will play a key role in analyzing, coding, and interpreting quality measures from various data sources, standardized and non-standardized datasets such as EHR, MDS, OASIS, and claims.As a Metrics Specialist, you will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting healthcare quality data from multiple sources to support our Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) state programs. You will participate in measure certification processes, such as the NCQA certification process for HEDIS measures. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of quality metrics, data sources, and analytics techniques to drive actionable insights and improve healthcare outcomes.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Data Sourcing and Integration:
  • Collect, calculate, analyze and integrate data from diverse sources, standardized and non-standardized datasets such as EHR, MDS, OASIS, and claims.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability for quality measurement and analysis.
  • Quality Measure Coding:
  • Develop and implement algorithms and methodologies to code quality measures across different data sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize coding practices and ensure consistency in measurement methodologies.
  • Quality Measure Analysis and Interpretation:
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses to evaluate healthcare quality measures and identify trends, patterns, and variations.
  • Interpret findings to inform decision-making processes and quality improvement initiatives.
  • NCQA Certification for HEDIS Measures:
  • Manage the process of NCQA certification for HEDIS measures, including data collection, submission, and validation.
  • Ensure compliance with NCQA standards and requirements for quality measurement and reporting.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to monitor performance against quality measures and benchmarks.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders, including executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and healthcare providers.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to healthcare quality measurement.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and innovation in quality measurement and analytics.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of healthcare quality measures, including NCQA HEDIS measures, measures derived from EHR and other standardized datasets, administrative data, and public health databases.
  • Understanding of quality measurement standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements, including NCQA, CMS, and other regulatory bodies. Experience ensuring compliance with quality reporting guidelines and certification criteria.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization using tools such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar.
  • Experience working with healthcare data sets and familiarity with data integration techniques and methodologies. Experience in analyzing diverse data sets to derive meaningful insights.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to derive actionable insights from complex data sets.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to staying updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare quality measurement and analytics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (e.g., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality - CPHQ).
  • Experience with Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) programs and alternative payment models (APMs).
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements, including NCQA accreditation standards and CMS quality reporting programs.
  • Experience working in a healthcare analytics or quality improvement role within a healthcare organization or consulting firm.
