Bemana is hiring a Dispatcher/Scale Operator for a family-owned metal recycling company servicing the Gulf Coast Region. This role plays a key part in coordinating logistics, managing scale operations, and ensuring efficient communication between drivers, carriers, and customers.This role is based out of their location in Lafayette, LA.BENEFITS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound truck traffic for scrap deliveries and shipments.
  • Assign and communicate load/unload locations to drivers.
  • Maintain a daily dispatch log with truck numbers, load details, and time stamps.
  • Optimize truck routing to reduce wait times and maximize efficiency.
  • Partner with carriers, customers, and yard staff to ensure schedules are met.
  • Track and report on load statuses throughout the day.
  • Weigh inbound and outbound trucks using the scale system.
  • Record gross, tare, and net weights in the scale ticketing software.
  • Verify material types and classifications per company and regulatory standards.
  • Generate and distribute scale tickets to drivers and customers.
  • Greet drivers and visitors with professionalism and provide clear instructions.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding material pricing, operating hours, and procedures.
  • Communicate discrepancies or safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Assist with payment processing or ticket reconciliation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records for daily dispatch and scale transactions.
  • Prepare shipping and receiving documentation for each load.
  • Support month-end reporting with weight, ticket, and dispatch data.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Prior experience in logistics, dispatch, transportation, or scale operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Comfortable using dispatch or scale management software OR willing to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
