Dominion Builders and it’s subsidiary DAG is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support its' fast-growing Design/Build operations related to execution of commercial and industrial construction projects ranging from $5 million to $30 million in value. The Controller is expected to be a personable, highly motivated, organized and detailed individual to serve as an integral member to the company. The Controller will manage the full accounting cycle, ensuring application of sound accounting principles and practices as needed by performing the following duties. This person is an aggressive, take-charge leader who has a strong customer focus, is highly organized, has a sense of urgency, skilled at building a cohesive construction team, and a concern and respect for safety and the desire to achieve quality in the final product.Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting financial information*
  • Prepare daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations*
  • Prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and management reports accurately and in a timely manner*
  • Record and maintain fixed asset purchases and applicable depreciation and amortization schedules*
  • Record and maintain monthly lease schedules and preparation of lease payments*
  • Prepare variance analysis to budget and forecast*
  • Support in compilation of annual and periodic budget information*
  • Employee expense report processing*
  • Assist in meeting Tax Compliance including, Annual Corporate Tax Filings*
  • Reconcile all corporate banking transactions*
  • Complete monthly cash flow analysis*
  • Perform daily routines and month end procedures*
  • Manage the accounting for inventory, accounts receivable and payables*
  • Respond to various queries and requests from external/internal auditors and vendors*
  • Maintain overall responsibility for accounts payable, receivable and payroll*
  • Ensure GAAP are being adhered to appropriately*
  • Handle construction accounting, costs, progress billing, AIA invoicing, draws, revenue recognition, lien releases, notice to owners, change orders and job costing*
  • Assist the CEO with personal financial transactions, documentations, etc.*
  • Manage licenses, registrations, certifications, insurances and contracts*
  • Prepares credit applications, maintains account list and account files *

Language Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of QuickBooks, MAC, Microsoft, spreadsheets, and Internet software.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree; and 10 - 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Construction and project accounting and construction practice knowledge.Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license
