We are seeking an Occupational Health Nurse (LPN) to join our team and support the well-being of our workforce.In this role, you will assess work-related injuries, document and track cases, and coordinate employee injury/illness cases, transitional duty, and return to work status. You will also conduct drug and alcohol screenings, maintain accurate health records, and support annual testing programs such as audiology and mobile equipment eye exams. This position works closely with employees, the Safety Department, Human Resources Division, and departmental supervisors.It is important to note that you will utilize your nursing skills, but this job will be administratively heavy maintaining records for audiology, mobile equipment and other processes as assigned.What We're Looking For:
  • Night Owl? Perfect! Must be willing to work the third-shift Occupational Health Nurse hours which will be 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
  • Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Alabama.
  • Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in occupational health or clinical triage with knowledge of resources like audio metrics, spirometry, vision testing, and other testing considered appropriate for occupational disease surveillance.
  • Documentation Management: Proficiency in utilizing computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications like Word and Excel, is a fundamental requirement for this role. The ability to effectively manage various digital tasks such as screenings, documentation, tests, and spreadsheets is essential to fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Trustworthiness: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating reliability and trustworthiness, is essential for this role. This is especially important for the third shift OHN, who frequently works alone.
  • Stress Tolerance: This role requires the ability to work autonomously, manage stress and handle multiple tasks when interruptions occur as well as meet deadlines in an unpredictable environment. You must also be able to adapt to varying situations that may arise during your shift.
  • Attention to Detail: Must have meticulous attention to detail, with a consistent commitment to upholding elevated standards of accuracy while adhering to specified deadlines.
Key Responsibilities & Skills Needed:
  • First Aid and Health Assessments: Provide triage for work-related injuries, coordinate drug testing, and conduct assessments for third-shift employees.
  • Medical Testing: Perform hearing screens, HEPB injections, drug and alcohol testing, and spirometry testing as per directives and policies.
  • Absence Management: Advise employees during third shift operations of the appropriate process for reporting absences, including call center notification, Leave of Absence Coordinator information for processing off work status (lock box) and the Business Partner information for FMLA application.
  • Vaccination Administration: Administer required vaccines (Flu, etc.).
