Job Title: MicrobiologistJob DescriptionServe as the Sr. Microbiologist/ Lead Microbiologist in the lab, providing direction to microbiology lab technicians and support for timely product release. Conduct microbiology QC analyses in accordance with USP methods.Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiology QC analyses using USP methods, including Total Aerobic and Anaerobic Plate Count, Total Yeast and Mold Count, Pathogen Screening, Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing, Suitability Testing, and Gram Staining.
  • Provide microbiology Quality Control support to ensure product release on time.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance tasks such as media preparation, growth promotion tests, stock culture maintenance, and basic housekeeping for the microbiology lab.
  • Conduct procedure validation and apply Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and data recording on all lab QC test-related activities.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety and attendance requirements.
  • Develop laboratory procedures as needed and perform equipment preventive maintenance activities.
  • Mentor and develop laboratory personnel as necessary.
  • Manage supplies purchase and ensure the microbiology laboratory is always ready to support business needs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in Microbiology, ideally supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working in a microbiology lab; ideally in pharma, OTC, personal care, or food industry.
  • Proficiency in microorganism growth promotion, maintenance, and antimicrobial effectiveness testing.
  • Familiarity with basic microbiology testing, media preparation, plating, and culture samples.
  • GMP, cGMP, GLP, GDP, and USP methodologies experience.
  • Familiarity with USP methods and criteria is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Supervisory skills and leadership experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of infection prevention, antiseptics, disinfectants, etc.
Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a microbiology lab with work hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime on Saturdays and occasional Sundays. Flexibility is required to accommodate early starts, late finishes, and weekend work depending on testing needs.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
