- Maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of automation equipment
- Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance work on automation equipment in a manufacturing/production environment
- Perform maintenance, set-up, and PM on automation equipment in Injection Molding department
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment related processing issues
- On-call as needed by department and able to be flexible with schedule as needed
- Use standard and metric hand tools to complete tasks and duties
- Troubleshoot maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant with a major emphasis on electrical problems, to include A.C.(Alternating Current) and D.C. (Direct Current) drives, PLC (programmable logic controllers) as well as basic motor control circuits.
- Electrical duties: performing all major and minor electrical repairs including 480V 3-phase motor repairs/installation, motor starter circuit repairs, VFD drives, photo-optic sensing devices, proximity switches, e-stop circuitry, and group fault detection in accordance to the guidelines established by Pactiv’s “Electrical Safety Program”, read and interpret schematics and basic electrical symbol identification, understand electrical theory including basic OHMS-law application, AC/DC drives, PLC, basic motor control circuits
- Mechanical duties: clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment when needed, examine mechanical equipment to diagnose and repair problems, disassemble, repair/replace, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment/devices including motors, conveyors, pumps, belts, chains, etc., read mechanical prints and technical data during installation and repair of equipment, read and interpret PI&D drawings
- May assist with the training of other employees
- Utilize mandatory safety equipment; executes duties in a safe and efficient manner; adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Assists maintenance and production staff as needed
- Other duties may be assigned as needed

- Remain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of all required PPE for the job

- Keep work area clean and organized
- Report any safety concern, risk, hazard, near miss, or injury immediately to the appropriate supervision on shift
- Follow all GMP guidelines required by the site and for each work station
- Inspect all product passing through the workstation for any possible defects or product concerns
- Report any concerns on quality of product immediately to appropriate supervision on shift
- 5+ years automation technician experience within plastics industry; experience within Injection Molding industry highly preferred
- Strong technical skills including mechanical, electrical, and electronic/PLC programming in a manufacturing/production environment
- HS Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in related field preferred
- Must possess the ability to work in tight spaces and on ladders/platforms
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting robotics/automation
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, belts/pulleys, chains, and sprockets
- Full term of experience must include working knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, ability to read schematics (electrical, mechanical/piping), P&ID diagrams, and blueprints
- Experience working with Whittman and Krauss Maffie equipment is preferred

- Electrical: AC/DC Electrical competency; up to 480 volt AC and 90 volt DC. Experience with motors and drives; both AC and DC.. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. Experience with all types of switches and sensors, including high speed counters. Ability to read wiring diagrams, use multimeters, need manual skills as well as programs, logics, editing/troubleshooting program and motor controls, 3 phase circuits
- Electronic: PLC Experience with Allen Bradley and GE-Fanuc PLCs, AC and DC I/O cards, high speed counter cards, stepper motor control cards and operator interface controls (Horner, TCP and Allen Bradley). Knowledge of ladder logic, program sequencing, and PC diagnostic tools. Ability to troubleshoot PLC and control interface problems, including program downloads
- Mechanical: Experience with power transmission systems including gear reducers, roller chain systems, and conveyors. Experience with pneumatic systems including solenoid valves and motion controls
- Computers: Understanding of the operation of a Personal Computer and peripheral equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) or equivalent. Integrated Operation System (ERP).
