Description of WorkThe individual in this position will plan and coordinate the film aspects of the project under the close supervision of ASU/UNL filmmaker Sharon Teo Gooding, Oglala Lakota documentarian Jaida Gray Eagle, and action oriented violence prevention researcher Katie Edwards. Their duties will include planning, filming, and management of all filming sessions for events and working with student interns. Primary responsibilities will include coordinate shooting of video, use of camera equipment, editing spaces, student schedules, production schedules, scheduling locations and paperwork. This person will also be responsible for getting location and personal releases for filming.The College of Education and Human Sciences respects people, ideas, voices, and perspectives. Minimum Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent experience plus at least six (6) months of experience working with Native culture and practices and six months experience supervising, teaching, and/or working with minors. Proficient with MS Office. Knowledge and understanding of Oglala Sioux Tribe culture and practices. Good multi-tasking, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate with co-workers, students, and stakeholders. Must be outgoing, approachable, and engage with students, staff, and stakeholders in a polite and professional manner. Ability to work independently. Must be excited to learn new things and willing and able to respond to last-minute requests. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred QualificationsAssociate's degree in indigenous studies, film making, photography or journalism; equivalent education/experience considered. Filmmaking experience with basic understanding of filmmaking equipment (cameras, lights, sound) and process (preproduction, production, postproduction). Experience with photo/video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Avid Media Composer. Experience on collaborative projects and organizing events.
