There is opportunity to grow into a Controller level role, by offering professional development and continued education support.JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant Controller will support the financial operations of the company by managing day to day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely and accurate financial reporting. Of particular importance is support with implementation of new ERP software system, and experience with Trimble Viewpoint Vista is required. This role is important in supporting the Controller, and CFO with financial analysis, internal controls, and process improvement that align with the unique challenges of a heavy civil general contractor.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Assist with implementation, including setting up master files, write standard operating procedures related to workflow, and assist with process training for new ERP software, Trimble Viewpoint Vista & provide support post go live.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensuring proper coding of construction related transactions (job cost, labor, equipment, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation of Work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and related revenue recognition
  • Support the development on annual budgets and forecasts, including project-level cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with operation teams to monitor project profitability and cash flow.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are maintained across all accounting and financial processes
  • Assist with annual audits, and compliance reporting
  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Support payroll processing and compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll and union reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of the general policies and practices of construction companies.
  • Advanced computer and Database management skills.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel in a diverse work community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Demonstrate capability of managing people and projects effectively.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 - 7 years of experience with Trimble Viewpoint Vista software, Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and ability.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices including job cost accounting, WIP and revenue recognition.
  • Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) credential preferred
  • Reliable and available transportation with a valid Arizona Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc.
