The Junior Wastewater Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in sewer design and construction that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. This is a highly coveted position with a well-respected public agency that offers long-term stability. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 1+ years of experience in wastewater engineering to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area.As a Junior Wastewater Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare primary and secondary sewer master plans and concept reports for design and construction.
  • Prepare project packages for Difficult Access Reaches (DAR) for design and construction.
  • Prepare sewer concept reports for extending the existing sewer system to serve properties that are presently served by septic tanks/cesspools
  • Coordinate with the Bureau of Engineering to facilitate the design and implementation of sewer renewal and relief projects
  • Perform Sewer Capacity Availability Reviews (SCAR) and prepare CEQA responses to sewer availability requests
  • Perform field investigation, desktop research, data gathering and data analysis
  • Review and assess the structural and operational condition of sewers based on CCTV inspection and following sewer assessment guidelines
  • Provide expertise and support in the development, calibration, and application of hydraulic, treatment process, and/or odor models.
  • Provide expertise and support in the development and maintenance of databases and related applications for sewer condition assessment, hydraulic assessment, flow projection, Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) analysis, and various hydraulic models.
As a Junior Wastewater Engineer, you will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related
  • California Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
  • Experience with wastewater or sewer projects, including sewer capacity and sewer condition assessments, and hydraulic modeling
  • Preferred: Experience in sewer or stormwater modeling
  • Preferred: Experience with Mike URBAN modeling software
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
