Description of WorkThe University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a creative and collaborative Ecological Learning Designer to lead the development of engaging educational experiences that connect the public with the science and stewardship of North American grasslands. The initial focus of this position will be supporting the development of interpretive resources for the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas, with plans to adapt and scale materials for us across additional National Park Service sites.As an Ecological Learning Program Coordinator, you will:
- Design and develop innovative, accessible educational materials for National Park Service sites, including exhibits, games, digital tools, guided experiences, and take-home resources.
- Create training materials such as videos, toolkits, and guidebooks to support park staff and volunteers in effectively delivering educational resources.
- Collaborate with scientists, park rangers, educators, and designers to co-create and pilot interpretive materials.
- Prototype concepts using both low-fidelity and digital formats, incorporating feedback from visitors and educators to improve usability and engagement.
- Support long-term strategy development for scaling and adapting interpretive resources across diverse park settings, cultural contexts, and audiences.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, museum studies, environmental education, communication, or a related field.
- Experience in developing training resources.
- Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences using inclusive and engaging methods.
- Strong skills in collaborative project work, including planning, iteration, and creative problem-solving.
- Ability to periodically travel to NPS sites, especially during development and implementation phases.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
- Demonstrated experience designing and evaluating educational materials in informal learning settings (e.g., parks, museums, zoos, outdoor classrooms, or online platforms).
- Interest in or experience with game-based learning, systems thinking, or place-based education.
- Familiarity with design or media tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, simple web builders); ability to create prototypes independently.
