- Serve as the Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Planning Yard for the LCAC, SSC, and LCU 1700 programs.
- Lead the efforts of Mechanical Engineering personnel, including Weights and Corrosion Control programs.
- Develop workload estimates.
- Develop and revise installation and alteration drawings for the LCAC Extended Service Life Extension Program (E-SLEP) and other ongoing availabilities, Craft Change Documents (CCDs), and Liaison Action Requests (LARs).
- Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) reviews on technical manuals, drawings, and other deliverables before sending to the customer.
- Edit new and revised technical manuals.
- Create, revise, and review Technical Manual Deficiency/Evaluation Reports (TMDERs).
- Perform on-site craft inspections at the Assault Craft Units (ACU) or shipbuilders to verify craft configuration and currency with documentation when required.
- Assist the customer with coordinating meetings, discussions, and action items for the Corrosion Inspection Working Group (CIWG) as needed.
- Maintain a 3-D CAD model database for LCAC-100 (SSC) and work within the ShipConstructor program for LCU 1700.
- Maintain workload and respond to tasking within the schedule and technical requirements identified in the Integrated Data Environment (IDE).
- Assist, guide, and mentor junior Engineers.
- Travel to shipyards in support of Craft Configuration Audits which includes traversing up and down ladder and navigating in small spaces.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years of relevant work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
- Knowledge and experience in SolidWorks or ShipConstructor 3D modeling program is highly desired.
- Prior experience leading a team in a Planning Yard, shipyard, or in the Navy/marine shipbuilding industry is strongly desired.
- Effective organization level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired but not required.
