- Assist carpenters in measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood or other construction materials according to specifications.
- Prepare and set up tools, equipment, and materials needed for each task.
- Carry out general labor duties such as lifting heavy materials, moving equipment, and cleaning the work area.
- Operate power tools and equipment under the guidance of a carpenter, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
- Assist in installing and repairing structures, fixtures, and fittings, including doors, windows, cabinets, and trim.
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring they are in good working condition and readily available.
- Follow blueprints, sketches, and instructions from the carpenter, ensuring accuracy and precision in measurements and cuts.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Communicate effectively with the carpenter and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to think critically on the job.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of precision in measurements and cuts.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with others to achieve project goals.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and ability to adhere to them at all times.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in the carpentry field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a construction or carpentry-related role is preferred, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools used in carpentry.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and guidelines in the construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and construction drawings.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to show up on time and complete tasks as assigned.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, both written and verbal.
