- To strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and promoting the optimal health of students and staff through the development and implementation of a coordinated school health program.
- Work closely with school personnel in meeting the medical needs of students.
- Utilize nursing skills (i.e. tube feeding, injections, glucose monitoring, etc.).
- Document all nursing functions in STI Health.
- Development of health care plans on students with medical needs.
- Dispense medications and follow medication guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality about student and staff health issues.
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively with students, parents and staff.
- Conduct health screenings (i.e. vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.)
- Evaluate health status of students and provide appropriate action/ treatment and referral/parental notification.
- Attend continuing education classes related to school nursing and Renew license as required through the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Attend required school system meetings, faculty meetings and IEP meetings.
- Current CPR Certification
- Adheres to the Scottsboro City Board of Education policies and the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
- Regular school term of 187 days or for the remainder of the school year if hired after the first day of school. Salary range as determined by degree and number of years experience and based on the Salary Matrix of Scottsboro City Schools.
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board regarding the evaluation of support personnel.
