Surface Diesel Mechanic

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on a variety of surface equipment, including dozers, loaders, forklifts, skid steers, compactors, service trucks, and light-duty gasoline vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using advanced troubleshooting methods.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and support operational needs.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and MSHA/KY State regulations.
• Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and other team members to prioritize maintenance tasks and coordinate equipment availability.
• Maintain tools, service truck, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating professionalism, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.
• Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance (mining or industrial environment preferred).
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication.
• Must hold a valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment under extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to work well with other individuals-often sharing the workload with other mechanics.
