Job Description:Classification: Categorical Special EduactionTITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION ADULT SEVERE MULTIPLE IMPAIRMENT (SXI) TRANSITION PROGRAM PARAEDUCATORLocation: Dr. Schultz Educational Campus/Adult Transition ProgramSchedule: Full-Time - 7 hours per day; 5 day per weekCalendar: Monday - Friday, Follows SXI 200 Day Extended School Year Calendar for 2025-2026 School YearSalary: $16.75/hr. per 2021-2025 RPEA Master Agreement$250 signing bonus for new RCS staff after completion of 90 calendar daysSALARY: $16.75/hour. The hourly wage will be paid from the Instructional Classification Schedule per the Rochester Paraeducator Association Master Agreement.Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
Experience working with people with disabilities or appropriate techniques for interacting with students with disabilities preferred.
Experience in special education career-based instructional programs preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to engage students in an age-appropriate manner and encourage adult behavior in a work environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) and other instructional support technology.
Excellent attendance record, flexibility, and capability to meet both physical and academic needs of students.
Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
Alternatives to the qualifications above may be considered by the Board.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance required.
Consistent punctuality and reliability in attendance; ability to arrive at work on time and maintain a minimal record of absence.
Reports To: Building or Program AdministratorCalendar: Follows SXI 200 Day Extended School Year CalendarJob Goal: To provide support to the special education program by assisting students with special needs in alignment with program philosophy and individual student goals.Performance Responsibilities:
Follows directions from building staff responsible for student learning plans.
Assists students with orientation, reading, art, and other curriculum tasks as per their learning program.
Supports development of instructional materials and demonstrates initiative with individual students when appropriate.
Assists with physical mobility and self-care activities such as toileting, feeding, and monitoring medical equipment.
Participates in physical activities as part of the program or unique to the student’s educational plan.
Reports student progress or challenges promptly and professionally to special education staff.
Assists with routine classroom operations and maintains instructional materials.
Supervises and supports students during non-classroom activities.
Performs additional duties as assigned by special educators, Student Services Director, or building principal.
