POSITION PURPOSE: Teach, coach and mentor JROTC Cadets to improve their learning and leadership capabilities, and make them better citizens and community leaders, administer and manage the JROTC program effectively according to law, regulations, policies and principles.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Actively recruit students to join JROTC.
  • Achieve desired learning goals by teaching prescribed JROTC subjects listed in the Program of Instruction.
  • Modify and improve given instruction by remaining continuously alert to new and alternative instructional methods and motivational techniques.
  • Maintain supply facilities in strict compliance with individual service security regulations.
  • Comply with service and school district safety guidelines in all instances when instructing, supervising, monitoring, and accompanying or escorting cadets.
  • Maintain student records as prescribed in service regulations and local policies.
  • Prepare unit for formal inspections.
  • Counsel cadets on their performance.
  • Conduct a public affairs program directed at school and community to further enhance understanding of the JROTC program.
  • Supervise/conduct training at JROTC summer camp and other duties prescribed by camp commander.
  • Assist cadets in applying for Senior ROTC scholarships and service academy appointments.
  • Set the appropriate example in decorum and cooperativeness, positive attitude and consistency for cadets and colleagues.
  • Draw, maintain and account for all property issued to the school; ensure sensitive items of equipment are secured.
  • Organize, supervise, and develop extracurricular activities to include color guard, drill teams, and special programs.
  • Maintain and manage all required budgets.
  • Supervise student fund raising activities.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written. Retired Commissioned Officer for senior instructor or retired Non-Commissioned Officer for assistant instructor.
  • Must be JROTC certified by appropriate military service.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be retired from the appropriate military service.
  • Exhibits a professional and caring manner to students and parents; efficient, knowledgeable and mission oriented with faculty, administration, and other district personnel.
