KBR is the primary contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for performing work at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD.Requirements:Education: BS in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field required; advanced degree is preferred.Years of Experience: Minimum of a BS plus 8 or MS plus 4 years progressively- complex professional experience specifically related to Information Security. Additional directly- related professional experience may be substituted for education at the discretion of the hiring manager.Description:The EROS Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) has an opening for an SRE. This position is an integral part of a diverse team, with primary responsibilities for leading technical site reliability engineering (SRE) practices for Information Security and Cloud Engineering. The main emphasis of this position is to design and implement a continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline that will assist in taking toil out of systems and transition them to the operational support for both the Security and Cloud operations environments. The candidate must be able to integrate into a team of highly skilled Engineers and Security, Cloud staff. Excellent communication skills and proven leadership skills are required for this position. Occasional travel may be required.Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with DevOps, DevSecOps, and development teams by helping to identify cross-team issues which create risk for operations across the organization and resolving those issues with a mixture of engineering, troubleshooting expertise, and general operational guidance.
  • Driving continuous improvement in delivery of resilient, scalable, performant, secure, and high-quality cloud-native services
  • Proactively driving improvement of enterprise cloud capabilities while creating best practices and tools to empower developers to create, deploy, and operationally support services.
  • Working with SRE team members as part of the DevSecOps culture, helping to develop highly scalable, secure architectures, utilizing agile best practices.
  • Plan, design, deploy, and operate site reliability and automation capabilities for cloud products & services. · Identify and remediate sub-standard performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Work closely with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Architecture, and Development teams to build highly performing, scalable, and secure cloud environments.
  • Define needs, document processes, including research, planning and writing supporting documentation.
  • Lead and coordinate project activities with other Security and Cloud staff to meet or exceed deadlines.
  • Lead project priorities activities and be responsible for the completion of those priority activities and report on task status/results to the ITSD Task Manager.
  • Ensure system requirements are achieved on complex systems of small, mid-size, or large scope.
  • Provide information / cloud security expert advice and support during the entire systems engineering life cycle from the specification and analysis of requirements, through the design of hardware or software, procurement, development, integration, testing, operations and maintenance.
  • Provide analysis, definition, and the recommendation of information assurance and security requirements for advancing Information Security technologies of computing and network infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of continuous monitoring techniques (e.g., SIEM, etc.) to evaluate system security postures.
Position Requirements:
  • 4 years experience in cloud security / cloud engineering with strong experience in SRE and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience working with public clouds (Azure, AWS, Google)
  • Proven experience in DevSecOps culture and SRE focused on the customer, cross-functional autonomous teams, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in designing and implementing a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Exhibit proficiency at troubleshooting various cloud, security, and system related issues
  • Demonstrable cross-functional knowledge with systems, storage, networking, security, cloud, and databases
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Experience working with Information Security risk assessments, vulnerability assessment, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention and automated log monitoring.
  • CISSP or advanced security certification (CCSP) is highly desired.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user account
