Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):
- Develop and implement state-of-the-art physics/data-based system models (0D/1D) to enable performance predictions, and transient analyses, supporting key strategic areas like electrification and data centers.
- Develop and deploy models at the system level, including HVAC equipment, building energy models (BEMs), Distributed Energy Resources (DERs like Thermal Energy Storage), and their interaction within the Grid Connected environment applied to data center applications.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of HVAC equipment operation in chilled and hot water heating systems designed for buildings, data centers, and various processed cooling and heating applications. Apply this expertise to develop detailed models that accurately reflect system design, analysis, control, and operations.
- Demonstrate good understanding of Machine learning, Reinforcement learning, Software engineering concepts for controls, etc. Apply this expertise to develop and analyze control system models for HVAC equipment in data centers.
- Work with internal and external partners in technical execution of long term externally funded R&D projects.
- Works closely with global team members, cross-functional associates and internal customers in dynamic environment, to understand the implications of modeling results and drive system level optimization and answer critical design questions through modeling results.
- Lead the evaluation of new and innovative technologies as they appear for potential commercial value, either as disruptive competition or prospective new products or services for the company.
- Develop and communicate clear understanding of customer requirements and meet or exceed those expectations.
- Conceptualize & develop project ideas leading to new advanced capability development in related domain areas to keep TT to the leading edge of technology.
- Network across the organization and externally to identify and communicate opportunities to apply system modeling and simulation to product design, applications and processes.
- Leads internal strategic projects and reports project progress for quality, deliverables and cost.
- Overnight Travel - approximately 10%.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 5 years' experience with thermal modeling and/or controls modeling is required.
- Master's Degree in Engineering or Building Science or Controls and at least 3-years of work experience in modeling and/or simulation is preferred but not required.
- Experience in HVAC systems modeling, building energy management systems, or HVAC equipment and controls is desirable.
- Experience with Modelica or Matlab/Simulink based system modeling preferred.
- Experience in control system optimization using advanced control methods like Reinforcement learning, Model predictive control, etc. applied in HVAC preferred.
- Experience in modeling or controls of data centers is desirable.
- Familiarity with data science, predictive modeling, and surrogate modeling techniques is necessary.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills are necessary.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and industrial awareness, capable of applying advanced approaches, technologies, and innovations in modeling and simulation for organizational advancement.
- Experience with CUDA, PINNS and GPU Computing is desirable.
