To find out more about our commitment to sustainability and about Amcor, visit .Job DescriptionPosition Overview: The electronics technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. The electronics technician provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing. This role will encompass the following tasks specifically but can be called upon to assist in technical matters as deemed necessary by the Plant Engineer.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, including (PLC) programmable logic controls, numeral controls, HMI, power supplies, VF drives, Servo drive and controls, gauges and test equipment
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and consistent with OSHA requirements
  • Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components
  • Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting
  • Assists and trains other maintenance and other technical-level employees
  • Provide parts list, cost and timeline to complete repair / overhaul of the detailed diagnostic analysis
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, program and operate automated quality inspection systems, vision systems, metal detection and gauging
  • Troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and programming issues related to plant operations equipment
  • Identification and interaction with vendors specifically to replace or improve the reliability of OEM equipment utilized by the operations and maintenance team
  • Provide phone support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment
  • Provide on-site after hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment
  • Work with the Operations and Maintenance Manager on new product / equipment installation, startup, and commissioning
  • Development of training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices
  • Travel to provide project support to other Amcor plants as requested
  • Work overtime as needed to complete assigned tasks
The above noted duties are not all inclusive. This is to be used as a guideline for the Electronic Technician in planning their day to day activities.Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Technology or Computer Technology or five years of manufacturing experience in related field
  • Minimum of Journeyman Electrical License
  • Supplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties. This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, air tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools, and specialty tools needed for specific job tasks in blow molding, and mold repair / maintenance
  • Ability to review, correctly interpret and modify PLC’s
  • Ability to use Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware software. Familiar with Beckhoff DATA Acquisition system, and networking between systems
  • Experience with multiple brands of (HMI) touch screen applications and programming
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand
  • Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers and vendors, read work instructions, job procedures and manuals, and document information
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting / maintenance
