QualificationsAbout the Role: Payroll/Accounting Technician:We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated accounting professional to join our team. In this role, your primary focus will be processing end-to-end bi-monthly payrolls for approximately 500 W-2 employees. This position will also take ownership of purchasing and accounts payable responsibilities to support smooth day-to-day operations. You will also process transactions, maintain accurate records, reconcile statements, and support colleagues across the organization with financial-related questions.This position is a great fit for someone who values accuracy, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to contribute to a collaborative team where their expertise makes a real difference. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities is a must.Key Responsibilities: Payroll (50%)
  • Process end-to-end Bi-Monthly payrolls, including but not limited to, timesheets, garnishments, benefits, taxes, and variable payments, while ensuring compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local regulations
  • Audit and maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and deductions in a professional and timely manner
  • Support month-end processes, annual audits and other payroll-related projects, including year-end reporting preparation.
  • Check/audit time and attendance records; enter or post changes in pay and deductions; calculate or compute wages, overtime, and premium pay using automated systems. Compiles data and performs payroll tax filings.
  • Validate agency payroll production runs; prepare summary reports; document agency internal payroll procedures/steps.
Accounts Payable (25%)
  • Complete and code receipts, invoices, vouchers, and journal entries.
  • Process invoices to be paid; post transactions to assigned journals and ledgers.
  • Review source documents for proper authorization, accuracy, and compliance with accounting rules and company policies.
  • Verify and correct discrepancies and errors; adjust and balance accounts.
  • Assist employees, vendors, and agency managers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
  • Respond timely and appropriately to requests for information and refer more complex inquiries to supervisor for response.
Purchasing (25%)
  • Obtain pricing and quotes from vendors for program operating supplies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Issue purchase orders and track order status.
  • Maintain vendor database.
  • Coordinate deliveries with locations and personnel.
  • Review orders for accuracy and appropriate approvals before ordering.
  • Update and maintain vendor database as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or GED required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An Associate's Degree (AA) or advanced business coursework from a vocational school or college in a related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • 2 years of technical accounting or bookkeeping
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
