Employment Type: Part timeShift: Day ShiftDescription: Come join our Patient Access team at Saint Mary's Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England!This position will be working in Hematology and Oncology department at the Chase Highway location in Waterbury (not at Saint Mary's Hospital campus).Position PurposeThe oncology scheduler coordinates and schedules all oncology appointments for established patients such as, laboratory, chemotherapy infusion, blood products, Physician/APP, injections, nutrition, chemotherapy education, genetics, symptom management and survivorship appointments; as well as coordinating radiology studies, internal/external referral appointments as requested by providers, nurses, and other patient care team members. Scheduler must be able to greet and interact with patients, staff and public with a courteous attitudeWhat you will doGreet patients, answer phones, schedule patientsAssist clinicians with pre-certifications/referrals, faxes and chart preparationEnsure the provider's schedules are timely and accurateObtain accurate, timely registration and insurance informationProvide clerical support to physicians, clinicians, mid-level providers and staffMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentCollege coursework in the secretarial or medical sciences preferredMinimum of one year experience working in a physician’s office required, preferably in a similar capacityFamiliarity with medical terminology requiredAbility to communicate well and listen effectively.
