Responsibilities:Resident Care
  • Performs initial assessment of potential residents to determine eligibility for move-in.
  • Performs assessments of current residents at critical points of change including changes of condition or changes of services.
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates continuous functioning of the department as well as the quality of resident care on the unit while applying best practices.
  • Assesses needs and develops a plan of care with the resident and their family. Develops a vulnerable adult care plan as appropriate for new residents. Obtains physician’s orders in a timely manner and according to policy, and reports significant changes to the physician.
  • Serves as the primary contact person to meet and appropriately handle resident and/or family concerns.
Staff Development
  • Actively participates in the orientation of new employees.
  • Monitors and supervises all resident care staff and care given on the unit according to established policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and education to resident care staff. Completes job performance appraisals which may include disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Assists staff in preparing for state and federal inspections.
  • Evaluates staffing needs and maintains adequate staffing.
  • Assists in interviewing and selection process for new employees, as needed.
  • Assesses educational needs of the department, provides input, and assists in the determination of competency.
Additional Duties
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director and Director of Senior Living to ensure budget is monitored accordingly throughout the year making further adjustments and revisions as necessary.
  • Must be able to assume all responsibilities of Charge Nurse/Registered Nurse whenever necessary.
  • Rotates weekend on-call responsibilities to provide resident care staff with an on-site resource person.
  • Works outside of regularly-scheduled shifts on occasion to maintain connection with staff on all shifts and to maintain awareness of concerns and needs not identified on day shifts.
Qualifications:COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as Medical Terminology related to the job. Sufficient fluency to be able to educate TEAMembers, Seniors/clients and caregivers regarding matters pertaining to complex issues such as medical needs. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull 50 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Tabitha’s discretion.
AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.EXPERIENCE: Two years of nursing experience in LTC/SNF/ALF required. 5+ years of management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse course of study, required.CREDENTIALS: RN License in good standing as recorded on the Nebraska State Registry or other Nurse Compact state required.
