This hybrid role can be located in our Brooklyn, NY, Boston, MA or Providence, RI office.Job PurposeAs the LNG Commercial Manager (LNG CM), you will support the development and execution of our LNG commercial and regulatory strategy as it relates to the Fields Point Providence LNG facility and any broader expansion in the Northeast LNG market.The role will be the primary customer contact (i.e. distribution utilities and gas marketers) managing the day-to-day administration of existing and new commercial contracts (e.g. interruptible liquefaction) including customer communications and commercial negotiations.This role is an unique opportunity to manage the acquisition of new customers, the optimization of existing contracts and the introduction of new commercial approaches, including contributing to the facility's upcoming rate cases. Additionally, the role will help identify strategic growth opportunities in LNG storage, vaporization, and liquefaction; recognizing the Fields Point facility as an anchor asset balanced with the incumbency of National Grid as a local natural gas distribution company in Massachusetts and New York.The overall goal of this team-oriented role will be to enhance the company's ability to commercially optimize, develop and grow a competitive and profitable LNG business in the U.S. Northeast to meet National Grid's energy transition objectives. Additionally, the role provides opportunity for growth in an agile and collaborative environment and exposure to the teams working on multiple energy technologies and commercial workstreams.Key Accountabilities
  • Facilitating the Fields Point LNG strategy development and delivery as a member of the management team of NGV NE Chief Commercial Officer team.
  • Primary contact for all customer commercial inquires and support for operational discussions with the customers.
  • Day-to-day management of existing customers and commercial contracts including addressing any ad hoc scenarios as they are presented.
  • Administer service offerings including negotiation, processing and execution of Interruptible liquefaction and capacity release agreements.
  • Facilitate/ lead modifications to the FERC tariff consistent with industry and company directives.
  • Identification and execution of ways to optimize contracts and leverage market opportunities.
  • Direct development of business cases for regulatory and commercial opportunities with support from commercial and financial team members.
  • Gather and prepare information on projects to facilitate risk evaluation and decision-making.
  • Participate and interact in strategic meetings, presenting and discussing with the business, NG Executives, JV Board(s) where relevant and/or LNG related topics.
  • Overall responsibility for key coordination across the broader National Grid and National Grid Ventures organization with respect to LNG topics and ongoing projects to ensure knowledge, process and technical capabilities sharing.
  • Monitor and manage emerging industry related natural gas policies and developments, working with stakeholder engagement teams, corporate affairs and external participants, as needed to influence and steer towards desired or favorable NG/NGV outcomes.
  • Utilize market, competitor, and customer intelligence to support relevant teams in the development and enhancement of LNG development activities.
  • Research external content, identifying and implementing an approach to increase industry presence.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree and 7-10+ years of relevant work experience in LNG / natural gas industry, with experience in the Northeast US a preference.
  • Preference, but not requirement, for undergraduate or graduate engineering or business degrees
  • Experience with regulatory strategy development and commercial management of an operating gas business, including experience working directly with natural gas customers (i.e. gas marketers and distribution utilities)
  • Strong knowledge of FERC energy regulation relevant to natural gas entities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the global gas market dynamics preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience, especially working with all levels of leadership.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment to deliver on strategies and projects related to industry legal requirements, regulatory filings, commercial arrangements, supplier contracts and other.
  • Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, with solid communication skills.
  • Advanced communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with recent energy sector trends in conventional generation, offshore wind, energy storage, transmission & distributed generation as they relate to gas market dynamics
