- Build and cultivate strategic, positive relationships for the firm with a network of technology decision makers, understanding their business challenges and connecting them to portfolio companies and partners to help them solve these challenges
- Develop long-term relationships with portfolio companies and connect a16z portfolio companies to the technology network through introductions, meetings, corporate briefings, events, and conferences
- Lead efforts to build important relationships through hosting dinners, receptions, or other events to bring together our network, firm, and portfolio
- Nurture high-value relationships with senior executives in the technology industry
- Collaborate cross functionally with internal teams to align on B2B business development initiatives and other firm-wide goals
- Stay abreast of a16z investment areas, industry trends, portfolio investments, and leverage insights to drive business opportunities
- Mentor and train other team members on our GTM Network team
- 10+ years in business development or related services in a technology company, IT Services, or technology-focused consulting/system integration
- Prior role in a high-tech / infrastructure organization, IT services consultancy, and/or a significant enterprise software company, ideally in a Business Development, Partnerships, or Services capacity
- Deep understanding of enterprise market dynamics, with a proven track record of successful partnerships, deals, and/or developing enduring senior-level relationships
- Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise technology, including infrastructure, cloud, SaaS, security, AI applications, and data analytics
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a focus on detail and executive presence
- Ability to discern industry needs and trends, effectively communicating insights to investment partners
- Established executive relationships within the technology sector, with a strong ability to independently manage those relationships
- Proven ability to self-start, operate autonomously, manage multiple priorities, independently contribute, ability to deal with ambiguity, and execute consistently in a dynamic environment
- Low ego, high empathy, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- You are an analytical thinker, able to seek and understand data to build a strategy around and execute against
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree is advantageous
- This role will be in either our Menlo Park or San Francisco offices
