This position will also educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; may also conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's healthcare provider.Key Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric Triage
- Psychiatric Evaluation
- Short term interventions including observation, monitoring and stabilization of acute crisis
- Referral services that meet the needs of the individual person
- Evaluation for admission to an Acute Inpatient Units
- Full-time | 12-hour night shifts (8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.)

- Coordinates the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.
- Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.
- Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
- Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
- Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient centered and patient valued behavior.
- Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
- Supports academic, educational and research endeavors.
- Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
- Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
- Serves as a resource to the community.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Previous experience working in a PEC as a student or faculty member preferred but not required
- Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
- Residency and/or Fellowship training within specialty
- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas.
- Board Certification or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area
- Must have good interpersonal, verbal and oral communication skills
- Must be self-directed and take initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior
- A commitment to medical education, including teaching and training medical and graduate students, house staff, and fellows
