https://www.yestojps.org/progress/psychiatric-emergency-centerJob Summary:The Physician is responsible for administering and interpreting all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations within the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. This position will also educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; may also conduct physicals, order tests and serve as a patient's healthcare provider.Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychiatric Triage
  • Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Short term interventions including observation, monitoring and stabilization of acute crisis
  • Referral services that meet the needs of the individual person
  • Evaluation for admission to an Acute Inpatient Units
Schedule:
  • Full-time | 12-hour night shifts (8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.)

Duties and Essential Job Functions:
  • Coordinates the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.
  • Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.
  • Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
  • Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
  • Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient centered and patient valued behavior.
  • Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
  • Supports academic, educational and research endeavors.
  • Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
  • Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
  • Serves as a resource to the community.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:
  • Previous experience working in a PEC as a student or faculty member preferred but not required
  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship training within specialty
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area
  • Must have good interpersonal, verbal and oral communication skills
  • Must be self-directed and take initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior
  • A commitment to medical education, including teaching and training medical and graduate students, house staff, and fellows
  • A commitment to lead and support efforts to enhance the climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects
